Chlorinated rubber for High corrosion resistance applications

Chlorinated rubber is a chlorinated polymer produced by the reaction of natural rubber and chlorine. The industrial product is a white or pale yellow powder, non-toxic and odorless, with a chlorine content of 65% ± 2 and an average molecular weight of 5,000-20,000. It is readily soluble in organic solvents such as aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, ethers, esters, petroleum solvents, and ketones (except acetone). It is miscible with various synthetic resins, including alkyd resins, epoxy resins, phenolic resins, and polyurethanes. It is insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, and water. II. Due to the high content of chlorine atoms in the C-C backbone and its cyclic structure, chlorinated rubber exhibits many excellent

    application properties

    1. The molecular chain structure is saturated, lacking reactive groups such as double bonds. This results in chemical stability and excellent corrosion resistance, making it resistant to a variety of corrosive chemicals, including acids, alkalis, salts, chlorine, H₂S, and SO₂.

    2. The Cl₄ group is mildew-resistant and flame-retardant, resulting in products with these properties.

    3. The C-Cl bond is highly polar, resulting in excellent adhesion to a variety of surfaces, including steel, aluminum alloys, cement, and wood.

    4. Its C-C backbone makes it a modified rubber product, offering excellent compatibility with rubbers such as natural rubber, chloroprene rubber, and nitrile rubber.

    5. Its cyclic structure enhances the product's adhesion, flame retardancy, oil resistance, and elastic modulus.

    6. It exhibits excellent heat resistance, exhibiting minimal decomposition above 125°C and no softening or combustion above 200°C.

    Product Applications

    Chlorinated rubber is a chlorinated polymer derived from natural or synthetic rubber through chlorination. Due to its excellent film-forming, adhesion, corrosion resistance, flame retardancy, and insulation properties, it is widely used in the manufacture of adhesives, marine and container paints, chemical anti-corrosion paints, road marking paints, fire retardant paints, architectural coatings, and printing inks. It is a highly promising chlorine-based fine chemical product. Furthermore, due to its high chlorine content, chlorinated rubber is non-flammable, making it a valuable raw material for the manufacture of fire-retardant and anti-corrosion paints.
